Working Groups

The following working groups will be deployed to assist in the deployment of the BG systems across the consortium and among its members. Each working group will have a lead PI and the team members from consortium:

  • Applications: Led by Ray Bair and Jim Sexton
    Identifies potential open source software for use and deployment; Organizes communities to support evaluation and deployment; Provides input to IBM on potential open source value proposition.
  • System Software: Led by Ray Bair and Sam Ellis
    Provides guidance for the system model as seen by users: the MPI Library, I/O model, file systems, job submission and monitoring, and tools for debugging and tuning. In addition, provide guidance for the system administration model to be deployed – configuration, system management, trouble shooting and provide SW support for entry level systems deployed.
  • Open Source: Led by Pete Beckman and Alan Gara
    Explores the relationships between hardware, software, and applications functionality and opportunities for architectural enhancements in future systems.
  • Outreach: Led by Ed Jedlicka
    Provides communication and training for BG users and consortium members.
